   Downeast Sexual Assault Services offers support groups in Hancock and Washington
Counties for sexual assault survivors. Groups are held one evening a week from 6-8PM in each county.

Hotline Seeks Volunteers

ELLSWORTH—Downeast Sexual Assault Services is looking for concerned, caring volunteers to help staff the 24-hour Crisis and Support Hotline.
   Topics covered include child sexual abuse, rape, rape trauma syndrome, sexual harassment, incest, Maine laws, medical and legal interventions and resources and others subjects. A commitment to confidentiality is required.
   Hotline advocates provide support and accompaniment services for sexual assault victims, their families and significant others. Advocates also assist callers by providing referral information for other programs such as mental heath counseling, STD testing, domestic violence programs or legal services.
   Volunteers are issued pagers and can answer calls from home or workplace. Four Continuing Education Units are available upon completion of the course.
